About me.

Introduction

Hello, I’m Tom Clough. I have a strong passion for collaborating with individuals, teams, and organisations aiming to achieve a consistent high-performance program.

My Approach

I lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class support to athlete cohorts, infused with energy and grounded in effective systems. My focus is on developing individuals, practitioners, and athletes while creating training environments that align with the culture and vision of the clubs and organisations I represent.

Experience and Insights

With over 15 years of experience in leading performance programs, I’ve discovered that while success is rewarding, the most valuable lessons often arise from overcoming challenges, such as changes in club administration, shifts in directorship, and team promotions or relegations. These experiences have equipped me with a keen understanding of the indicators that suggest whether you are on the right path to success.

Core Beliefs

What I firmly believe is that, despite the abundance of technological advancements and top-notch facilities, people remain the most valuable asset. This holds true not only for athletes or players but also for the support staff who deliver exceptional assistance through precise decision-making rooted in solid systems and processes.

“I hired Tom when I was in the role of Director of Rugby at Hull KR.

Tom was highly impressive in the initial interview though it was only when we began working together I witnessed first hand his consistent approach to excellent leadership.

This started with exceptional ability to pivot & innovate, then bring his team on the journey. Managers stay in their lane and conform, great leaders know which rules need to be left as they are, which can be bent and which can be broken to accomplish the teams goal.

Tom has a wonderful eye for doing this.

Excellent Leaders also deliver on their word and have a high standard of individual performance, again areas Tom excelled in, enabling him to gain respect and trust from the teams he was leading and myself.

Finally emotional intelligence is a non-negotiable component of leadership that Tom displayed at a high level day to day through his ability to understand individual needs and desires. He listens with intent and flexes his leadership style to the mood of the group at that particular moment.

If you are looking to improve your innovation skills, your personal accountability and emotional intelligence you will find no better person to do this with than Tom ”
